What makes a domain sellable?
Many articles have been written about how to value a domain name. This is not one of those articles. I sell domains so I’m much more concerned with what names people want to buy and what they’ll pay then I am about their true value. What I mean by that is, I’m not one of those

.Net Names are Hot… But Why?
Although .net names seem to be selling well these days, I don’t particularly like the .net extension. There are a few reasons for this, but what it boils down to is that I would never develop a .net domain name, and I don’t know why someone else would - unless there are extenuating circumstances (like

Update: Selling Domain Names on eBay
Is it worth trying to sell domain names on eBay? An experiment with Headcase.com. Advertisement Everyone knows that eBay’s domain name auctions are full of junk. I personally don’t spend any time looking for domains there. But recently there have been some high profile domain auctions on the site. There are also new ...

Replying to “Low-Ball” offers on domain names
This is another user submitted question that I would like to explain what I do. How do you reply to a "low-ball offer"? I am always nice about it and never act like I am upset over the amount offered. A good example is a reply that I got the other day. "I’ve never bought a domain

Upcoming TRAFFIC Live Auction in Orlando
When looking through the just released Moniker live auction list, the most important thing I am looking to find are domain names that I can use commercially. When buying at auction, I assume the domain name’s sale price is far greater than any potential PPC revenue I could ever earn, and I also assume

Domains Names Available for Registration #60
I’d like to thank everyone who purchased surplus lists this past week. As I stated in my last post, all the feedback I’ve received has been positive in terms of the value at these prices. If you’re still on the fence about purchasing a list, act fast or your decision will be made for you

Drumming in the benefits of a good generic domain name
My friend and fellow Targeted Traffic Forum board member, Edwin Hayward, got it right with domains and got it early. Like me, he's one of the few domainers who truly understand the call to action potential of domains. The kind of results I blogged about in the post below this. Edwin's site advocates: >>How many prospects see your UR...

RBC.mobi in my bank statement
A short break from .ca today... I've followed the .mobi extension since the landrush in the fall of 2006, and while I didn't break the bank on them, I own some good generics. I've always thought .mobi had a chance of making it, not because it's NEEDED, but because of marketing and the 'cool' factor (plus it's easier to get a good .mo...

Don't Get Sidetracked Into dotMOBI Thinking
A dotMOBI enthusiast wrote me this morning about "big breakthroughs" for the dotMOBI extension. He cited CNET promotion of CNET.MOBI (which for me resolved to an error page but I know for a fact was registered by my pals at Mark Monitor for trademark protection as is the reason I hold many dotMOBIs) and an Al Ries May 6th AdAge artic...

Walking up to bugs, coupons, pizza and florist (.com)
It's going to be a GREAT domain day. At 7AM the TV streamed its wake-up call on with a spot from Hulett (you-let), the infamous Florida pest control chain known for their direct response TV ads featuring midget twins (one of whom sadly died recently). But today in the corner of the spot I see the call-to-action: bugs.com! Good fo...
