Ethics of Domain Drop Auctions: TDNAM and NameJet called out Yesterday: Today We call out Tucows Yesterday domainnamewire.com reported that employees of TDNAM.com and NameJet.com were allowed to bid on domains that were in their own company’s dropping auction service.
In the article, domainnamewire.com sited some discussions on NamePros about GoDaddy employees, including Adam Dicker, who runs Godaddy aftermarket service, bidding on and winning auctions from their own system.
Troubling for sure.
Today we are calling out Tucows.

GoldAuction.Com On Bido. What Would It Go For?
I read earlier today on NamePros.com a number of valuations for GOLDAUCTION.COM, anything from US $400 to US $4,500.
I also read earlier today on DomainState a comment which got my attention about rYY.COM, yesterday’s auction. The comment was put by Snoopy:
Would say it was about 10-15% under market value. Considering the liqu...

CORRECTION In my initial post today on Domain Drop auction services , I INCORRECTLY identified Adam Strong as the employee of Godaddy which had placed bids on the Godaddy auction Platform.
The correct name of this person is Adam Dicker.
Adam Strong is not an employee of Godaddy and has not engaged in any improper conduct in this

At Bido, We Listen! Last few days have been extremely rewarding. Years of hard work finally came together, and most of the doubt some had at our initial concept have been replaced with a sense of optimism. To say we are thrilled is an understatement!
We’ve learned a lot in last few days running Bido, bugs are quickly found and eliminated, and futu...

Tucows/Afternic simply dropped the ball When Tucows announced they would be sending expired domain names to Afternic.com I was happy. So I did all my home work and found several domains that I liked right away (about 40). I put all these domains in to Afternic and all were listed as expired domain auctions. So I watched them in My

Lawsuit Payday (.com) The simplest of domain strategies is to find a source of unresolved pain and remove it.
Do that by making an offer on TV and with a call-to-action domain to elicit the "I want" sign-up behavior online.
Two pictures are usually presented with pain first and relief second. There are two absolute necessities:

ExerciseTV.tv/Store Behold the first spoken-URL I've rated. You know it's a bad URL when the person being paid to say it can barely get it out right. It would be like having ExerciseCom.com -- that's just nasty. And topping it off with a slash only makes matters worse. This URL puts the boob in boob tube.

NationalCity.com/NoATMfees I've been seeing a lot of this from National City. Putting the punchline of their ad as an extension to their URL. If they are keen on driving people to this specific page, I'd really rather see them use subdomains. NoATMfees.NationalCity.com would be more effective as people tend to ignore everything that comes after the domain. Ho...

Blog.UrbanOutfitters.com/Election08 So close but yet so far away. Leading caps and use of subdomain are a good start but tacking on a slash is URL overload. This URL doesn't get my vote.

www.svn112.com OMG, I hate acronym URLs. Unless the company is commonly known as such. I doubt Sperry Van Ness goes by SVN though. And the 112 is seemingly random. Turns out 112 is the address of the agent (not the property being sold). Apparenly, SVN (henceforth, they shall be known by the acronym -- hey, they made their bed!) has a bunch of diff...
