Geo Domain Expo Recap
Those who know me, know I don’t particularly like to fly - scratch that - it’s taking off and landing I don’t like so much. Today it wasn’t a problem, as I slept like a baby on the flight, exhausted from the great weekend I had in Chicago. Th geo domain industry is unlike any

Dictionary domains in .COM/.NET/.ORG - Sure winners!
Ever since I started registering domains with the intention to develop or resell (the option to monetize was added much later) I decided to stick to the same basic principle: if it’s in the dictionary, it’s something I can use. If I can use it, others can. If others can, then I have established the

Great American Beach Towns: Friendlier On Your Wallet
When you think of great beaches and beach cities, places like Virginia Beach, Waikiki, Daytona Beach, Myrtle Beach and Malibu quickly come to mind.  Concierge.com went searching for smaller gems that may be a bit closer to home and thus less expensive to get to.  With the exception of Santa Cruz, you probably never heard

Tools Can Help Geodomainers Make Informed Decisions When Buying Domain Names
This was slated to be published tomorrow.  But I had to push it up because I just ran into a Forbes post on the front page of Digg, and it basically made the same claims I did. I guess you can say I was on the right track if Forbes is thinking the same thing I am. Or the other way around. Our lists are almost identical.

Brad and Angelina Have Their Baby’s Names Covered
We wrote a post a couple of months ago about a new trend where parents would only select names for their baby if the domain name was available. Brad and Angelina must have be listening because within hours of giving birth to twins, a boy named Knox Leon Jolie Pitt and a girl named Vivienne Marcheline

Registering a Competitor's Trademark in a Domain Name is Never a Good Idea and Can Result in ACPA Damages and Injunction
Even where a competitor has acted in bad faith by infringing on one’s intellectual property rights, courts will still find infringement where one defensively registers the trademark of a competitor in a domain name to prevent future infringement or competition....

www.thebestcabinets.com
I hate URLs that have random demonstrative adjectives in them. Just because BestCabinets.com was taken doesn't mean you should buy TheBestCabinets.com. The mind is trained to ignore those words. Perhaps it's all the book and article titles that don't capitalize them because they're not important enough. They'd have been better off f...

www.holland.jobs
Here's another made-up TLD in action. I do think dot-jobs will be a good one once the ICANN restrictions are lifted next year. I wonder what Steve.Jobs will have to say about that?

BarackObama.com
Now that he has secured the Democratic nomination, it's nice to see Obama taking his URL display seriously. 4 months ago he was drowning in dubs and trying to be a BIGSHOT with ALLCAPS. Now he's cleaned up his act and streamlined his URL. Well done Senator. Now this is change I believe in.

Caught this URL at the Old Town Art Fair a couple weeks back. Nothing fancy here. Just some good leading caps. This URL is picture perfect.

HillaryClinton.com
For the record, Hillary didn't go down without a fight. She was sporting a Good URL in the late stages of her campaign. If you'll recall, last time we checked in with the the Clinton camp, their URL was awash in caps and italics. Nice to see them straightening out their act but, alas, it was too little too late for this race. Now I'...

www.dhump.org
URL-spotter Charles Lumpkin sent this one in. I shudder to think what other bad habits they're instilling in the minds of the future. They need to get over the hump and class up their URL a bit, making it kinder.

fraterniityofsti.com
It took me 3 tries to find the right website here. First, I tried fraternityofstl.com thinking it was a St. Louis thing. Then I tried fraternityofst1.com thinking there was something about being the 1st state. Then I realized it was an "I" and finally found the site. Whoever came up with this URL should be hazed and paddled.
