Hotel Peace Palace: Nepalese owner pleads for his domain name

The operator of the Hotel Peace Palace is distraught, having allowed their domain name to lapse.

Based in Nepal, the hotelier operated the domain name HotelPeacePalace.com, the matching .com, since 2012. In January, the domain was not renewed and as an expired domain it dropped a few weeks later. Someone used a drop-catching service, most likely SnapNames, to acquire the domain for less than $80 dollars.

The new registrant, most likely based in France, has listed the domain HotelPeacePalace.com at Dan.com, with an asking price of 3500 Euro.

The Nepalese hotelier left a review at Trustpilot, with the following message accompanying the 2 star review:

Hello sir/madam im the owner of hotel peace palace. Located at baglung ;nepal. Due to mistake my web contractor forget to do renewed this wwwhotelpeacepalace.com site. So i need it back from u. Please tell me what i have to do for it.

With a long history as a peaceful hotel destination in Baglung, Nepal, the domain was used on social media such as Facebook. The hotelier has registered the domain NewHotelPeacePalace.com to compensate for the loss of their domain name.

As the domain expired and dropped, the new owners have no obligation to give it back. But if they did, it’d be a major boost in their karma, in our opinion. Namaste!
