.AI Ascends to Top of Our Latest Sales Chart While Sweeping Nine of 20 Entries on the Elite List

The artificial intelligence boom remains in full bloom with the revolutionary technology continuing to generate an extraordinary number of aftermarket domain sales. For the first time, there are more .ai domains on our all extension Top 20 Chart than .com domains (9 to 7 for those keeping score). It is all the more surprising when you consider that .ai is actually a ccTLD for the tiny Caribbean island nation of Anguilla. When the .ai extension was assigned to Anguilla almost 30 years ago (1995 to be exact) only a handful of science fiction enthusiasts would have predicted its stunning metamorphosis into the globally popular, highly profitable TLD that it is today.

.AI's chart domination this time around the track includes commandeering of the #1 position on our latest bi-weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. Veteran domain investor and broker Andy Booth (Booth.com) made it happen - but not by selling the domain. Andy, one of the most vocal proponents of top tier (and top tier only) .ai domains, was actually the buyer of chart topper Sound.ai at $250,000. However you may feel about the merits of various TLDs, it should be obvious that that keyword connected with AI is a match made in heaven.

Namecheap reported all of the other charted .ai sales including #5 Pose.at at $42,500. With country code entries from two other extensions (.in and .at), the .ai assault gave ccTLDs 11 of the 20 chart positions. Sedo Premium Broker Mark Ghoriafi contributed one of the highest of those by closing a $50,000 sale on behalf of AscendDomains for #3 (tie) All.in - another one of those keyword-TLD combinations that come as close as you will ever see to perfect harmony.

As I noted at the top, .Coms filled seven slots on the honor roll, led by Sedo's $65,000 sale of #2 GameGenie.com. It is interesting to note that one those .com sales was AI oriented as well with Sedo selling #18 AIAssistants.com for $15,000. Bruce Sadowitz also aided the .com cause with his $24,750 sale of OnlineForms.com through Afternic.

The non .com gTLDs were limited to two spots but one of those, Rails.xyz at $50,000 via Afternic, crashed the first five. That domain is now the home of a new cryptocurrency trading company that is currently preparing to launch.

Here is how all of the leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024:

Country Codes

This is one of the rare times that, if you saw the all extension Top Sales  Chart, you have already seen more than half of the Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart! That is because the 11 biggest ccTLD sales all made the main chart as well. Andy Booth's big buy of Sound.ai at $250,000 led the ccTLD rampage that included nine .ai sales.

That means that the biggest sale from this group that you haven't seen yet is the #12 name on the Country Code Top 20. That is Sedo's $9,500 sale of eBooking.hk. Sedo piled up nine entries overall, led by #2 All.in at $50,000 and additional hits in a variety of extensions including #13 Benevolent.eu at $8,099 and #14 GuardRail.it at $7,000.

DomainLore.uk also got into the act with #19 Freight.co.uk at $5,716 and #20 Leaflets.co.uk at $5,715. Here is how the ccTLDs stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024:

Non .com gTLDs

The Non .com gTLDs were led by that pair of five-figure sales you saw at the top of the report - Rails.xyz at $50,000 via Afternic and Aeon.life at $15,660 through Sedo. The biggest sale is this category that you haven't seen yet is Sedo's $9,999 sale of #3 Plus.bet.

.ART took over after that, sweeping the next four entries in a row, including a trio that went for $6,500 each. Those were GoDaddy sales of Cold.art and God.art and Namecheap's sale of Don.art. Get.art capped the run with a $5,000 sale of #7 Silk.art.

The extension race wound up in a three-way tie between .art, .net and .org with each TLD taking four chart entries. No other TLD has more than one.
