Customers can no longer list domains on the platform as of April 29, but Afternic listings will still be syndicated.
GoDaddy will no longer let customers list domains directly on GoDaddy Auctions, effective April 29.
The company announced today that it’s ending so-called Member to Member listings on the platform. This includes seven-day public auctions, buy now listings, and offer/counteroffer listings.
Customers can still reach the GoDaddy Auctions audience with buy now and offer/counteroffer listings by listing the domains on Afternic.
All in-progress auctions will run until their conclusion, and any buy now and offer/counteroffer listings will be removed from GoDaddy Auctions by May 13.
To be clear, this applies only to domains listed directly with GoDaddy Auctions. Much of the inventory currently displayed on the site is syndicated from Afternic.
Although I’ve heard from some domain investors over the years who list domains directly on GoDaddy Auctions, I can’t imagine this is a widespread practice. It seems that only expired domain auctions capture much attention. (If you’ve had success with listing in GoDaddy Auctions, please contact me.) And with most domain investors using Afternic, I don’t see much upside to listing buy now and make offer listings directly on the platform.
GoDaddy has published FAQs about the change.
Bryan says
Why would anyone list their domains on GDA they charge 35% commission
Mike berk says
Because Dana Patrick told me during a Super Bowl commercial that godaddy is the place. Duh
Alex says
Actually they charge 15% if you also list the domain on Afternic or Dan, I personally have had great results using the GDA marketplace and this change is a big blow for my domain flipping model.
