Sedo reveals interesting domain aftermarket data.
Sedo and InterNetX have released their annual Global Domain Report.
The report contains interesting data about both the primary and secondary domain name markets and includes quotes from many people in the domain name business.
My favorite part of the report is data about the aftermarket, primarily sourced from Sedo. Here’s some interesting data in this year’s report pertaining to the aftermarket.
- Buy now is very popular: 73% of Sedo’s sales in 2023 were fixed price. That number has steadily grown from just 30% back in 2011. Even more surprising is that just 12% of transactions were from “make offer” listings. 8% were auctions and 4% were brokerage.
- 47% of sales were through SedoMLS partners, up from about 1/3rd in 2020. The biggest partner sales were skywin .com at $275k and npc.ai at $250k.
- .Com was the top seller with 55%, and .de was second at 14%. Sedo has always had a significant market share in Germany. Everything after .de is relatively small, but Sedo noted that .ai and .ch knocked .xyz and .io out of the top 10 in terms of volume sales for the year.

Wow! 73% of BIN sales is a big number.
By the way, my all domains are having BIN at Sedo and I’m yet to sell a domain via Sedo this year…
