Audit your account to prevent accidental sales at low prices.
The other day I saw a lead in my Afternic account for a domain I recently acquired.
The asking price was correct, but the floor price at which it could be sold was below what I paid for it; I had made a typo when entering the floor price.
I recently audited my account and found many more domains where the floor price was substantially below the asking price.
Here’s an easy way to audit your portfolio and look for domains that might have incorrect floor prices.
1. Log in to Afternic and go to the portfolio view.
2. Click the Export button toward the right, and select “All domains in Selling view.” This will download a .csv file of your domains.
3. Add a column to the right of Floor Price. Label it “Ratio.”
4. Put the formula =E2/C2 in the first blank, then copy it down.
5. Sort your spreadsheet by your new Ratio column, smallest to largest.
This is what your spreadsheet will look like:
The domains with the lowest ratios have the biggest percentage difference between the floor price and the buy now price. In this example, the first domain’s floor price is just 47% of the buy now price.
Take a look at the domains with the lowest ratios and make sure the floor prices are where you want them. You can make changes directly within your Afternic account. You can also ask your account manager to help you set a universal floor price as a percentage of the buy now price.
